Casual Crypt "Free Memory" EP - Vinyl Record

On Free Memory, Casual Crypt steps further into a world of drum machines, sampled fragments, and the incidental textures of daily life. Opening with a pop-infused electronic collage recalling the playfulness of YMO, the EP unfolds as a series of miniature environments, each assembled from rhythms, tones, and atmospheres both familiar and strange.

Recorded between 2022 and 2023, in the gaps between studying for an Industrial Design degree and working, these pieces emerged from late nights and quiet weekends, slowly distilled from a much larger pool of material. During this period, Vernon drifted through various genre experiments before finding a more personal language in electronic form. Nothing was off limits, yet a self-imposed set of boundaries shaped the contours of the work, a paradox that defines its charm. Free Memory captures the sense of an artist building private architecture from sound, one small fragment at a time.
